Welcome to the first page of Fallen …

…a side arc of The Young Protectors, featuring Flyboy’s telekinetic friend, Cory Alvarez!

This arc follows Cory as he tries to survive in a bizarre and dangerous new world. Cory has no superhero training, and when he’s used his powers in the past, the result have been disastrous. What could possibly go wrong?

(How did he wind up in this place? Read the exciting first chapter of Double-Cross to find out!)

There will of course be lots of action and suspense, as is my way, but there will also be more of a focus on romance. In general, this is meant to be a much lighter, more purely fun arc than the main story. So, if this turns out to be a story y’all are interested in me telling, expect more humor and, eventually, a good amount of kissing.

Linework is by The Young Protectors guest artist, Gabriel Mayorga (who did a bunch of our more popular wallpapers .) And the colors will be by our amazing The Young Protectors production colorist, Veronica Gandini!

Right now I’m just posting up the first 10 pages

As you know, I’m not breaking even right now with the amount of money coming in with this comic, so I currently can’t afford to post two comics at once. But this is a story that I’ve wanted to tell for a while, and when Adam let me know that he wanted a few weeks off, I figured it would be a good chance to give you a little teaser, so you can let me know what you think. These 10 pages are the complete first scene of Chapter One.

I’m not sure how I’d post up the full, multi-chapter arc, if it turns out you do like it. (Alternating chapters with Double-Cross? Making it Patreon-only? Post it after Double-Cross?) But I have the whole thing plotted out, so if there is serious interest for it, I will find a way.

Looks like a good story to me, Alex! I’d like to see more, and I also like the line art.

In your post, when you say colors by Veronica, do you mean in the final release, or will those be colored during the course of the 10 page preview?

PS - With the exotic look of the coral-like flora, on my first take I thought for a moment Cory was underwater, and that guy with the spear was in a snorkel! I’m sure the colors would have focused me on the right things, haha. :fish:

As we saw the dinosaur and desert before from the other side of the portal I didn’t think of an underwater environment at all but reading this and going back at the page I totally see where you’re coming from :joy:

Ouch… but at least at the moment I might prefer a winged, horned, masked man with a spear over a T-Rex :sweat_smile:
Let’s hope the guy is friendly? :innocent:

While these Sneak Preview pages are just the black and white linework, we’ll have the colored page from Vero on Tuesday night, at our usual time, just like always. So, these pages will be colored during the course of this 10 page “teaser” just like the main comic has been. :slight_smile:

I can see where you are getting underwater from this linework preview, but we are actually on land. :slight_smile:
