I find it really interesting that it actually worked even though he misidentified the threat. He cast some kind of protection from spirits spell but Cory is still unable to affect him. Is this a clue to the source of his powers?
Hm. I suppose the Crazy may have created a protection spell without needing to know exactly what the protection was for. Like, maybe he basically texted his master “protect me from this!” without needing to specify. And that sort of protection may even be adaptable to new threats, too, maybe. Possibly.
If I were Cory, I’d first try to throw heavy objects at the guy instead. Probably shouldn’t throw the gravestones, though, that’s disrespectful. Even if the gravestones are inscribed with surnames like Whamm or Splatt.
And if throwing things at the Crazy doesn’t work, Cory may have to move Mitch out of harm’s way instead.
And if that doesn’t work, there’s the sacrifice option. Cory could reveal himself and offer himself as a target in order to save Mitch. But hopefully things won’t come to that and Cory will find some other option.
What other options? Remove the ground under the Crazy and drop the excavated earth on top of him? Overload the Crazy with more blood?! (Good gracious, where did that idea come from? Bad brain!) Scratch a blackboard near the Crazy’s ear! Float a bedsheet with eye holes at him? Shroud the area around him with dust so he can’t see where to zap! There are always options, Cory! You can do it!
I’m such a dummy. I’m looking at the Minion who invoked blood magic and thinking that he knows Cory is there. No, No, No… The flaming {expletive deleted} fool thinks that Mitch has some sort of Spirit helping him. A ghostly presence who knocking him and the other minions down…

The master of crazies ought to be affiliated with or the embodiment of craziness, in some manner, much like Laampos is with fire and anger, and Ikaroth is with ice and despair. Then I thought, you probably don’t want a character too similar to DC’s Joker, or to Delirium of the Endless.
Then I thought, what if you borrowed inspiration from elsewhere, such as the Alice books. I could easily imagine a cat-like demon casually giving power for a saucer of blood to lap up, but also uncaring if the crazy actually succeeds or not. A cat doesn’t much care what a human does as long as the cat is fed and the human is entertaining.

Yes, that’s true, and if all my assumptions are also true, that will make the “master” rather powerful at the moment. I admit my assumptions might not be true, and there’s an excellent chance I’ve got quite a bit of this wrong, but this is my current theory until I get new information that contradicts it.
I usually don’t worry to much about referencing other iconic characters (so long as I don’t violate IP), and I actually had a whole idea for a comic once that with characters that interacted with Gaiman’s Endless.
But I haven’t really thought about any of those characters in relationship to my Kings and Queens of Hell.
