A Heads Up: Sneak Preview Pages!

Just to give y’all a heads up, I’m going to be offering a new benefit to $5+ Patrons, starting in June: advance, “sneak preview” pages!

Members of the Woolfpack will now be able to read a page ahead in the comic on this site (and I’ve set things up so Patrons will be able to comment on the pages without spoiling anything for other readers).

This is a benefit other creators offer to their patrons, and now that I’ve worked out a way to avoid spoilers while still taking advantage of my webcomic software, it’s something I want to offer to y’all. For now, I’m just going to start with one sneak preview page, posted at the same time as the regular update. If this benefit turns out to be popular, though, I might be able to do more in the future.

Just something additional

But just to be clear, I’m not taking away anything from the general readership. The next full-color page update for page 34 will happen on Tuesday night PST, just like always. I will simply also post a sneak preview of page 35 at the same time as a special benefit for those whose support makes this comic possible (and who make it possible for everyone to read for free.)

New “Most Current Page” code

The only thing that might change for you is the special Most Current Page link code, if you only want it to take you to the most current, full-color update.

The current code will take you to the preview page.

If you want to land on the page before that (which will be the full-color update), you’ll need to add this code to a bookmark per the instructions in my FAQ:

http://youngprotectors.com/?webcomic_url=webcomic5-last--a:2:%7Bs:14:%22posts_per_page%22;s:1:%222%22;s:6:%22offset%22;s:1:%221%22;%7D

(Not as pretty as the other code, I know. But I’m just happy I was able to figure out how to do it at all, and it’s going to be in a bookmark, regardless.)

Anyway, I wanted to give y’all a heads up about this before putting it into action, so there would be no confusion. This is just a new benefit for the Woolfpack—nothing will change for the general readership. And there will still be good reasons for all patrons to camp and comment on the regular updates, since those will be the first full color pages. That said, if you want a little sneak preview of what’s going to happen to Spooky, Cory, and Flyboy in this battle as well, you’ll now be able to enjoy that too. 🙂

A warm thank you!

And speaking of our awesome Patrons, as always, it’s my great pleasure to send out a special thank you to those readers who joined/re-joined my Patreon or upgraded their pledges in the past week.

The only reason I’m able to keep making The Young Protectors is because of the very generous support of readers like you on Patreon. So, please join me in sending out a very special thank you and welcome to the newest member of the Woolfpack!

TatorBunz

Thank you so much for your amazing support, TatorBunz! You and the other members of the Woolfpack are all the real superheroes of this comic!

So! Spooky attack with big hammer! Priestess send Spooky to space! That could be a problem for our favorite paranormal investigator, since he doesn’t have any teleportation powers, and can’t even fly.

So… what happens to the human body in the vacuum of space again?

Tune in this Wednesday to find out! Hope to see you there! 😀

Oh dear. I knew the Priestess wasn’t going to pull her punches either, but I wasn’t expecting this. And assuming Spooky can survive and return to Earth — like, of course he will, I just don’t know how, maybe something in that coat can help him? Can he cocoon himself in an ectoplasmic spacesuit? — getting back to a specific cemetery in Oregon might take him some time during which the Priestess might do anything to Mitch and Cory.

Y’know, I can see better why Spooky said the local Ex-Team isn’t going to show up right away.

Is THAT the Big Red Spot of Jupiter I see?
Yes, it IS the Big Red Spot of Jupiter!

Belatedly, I’m just realizing that Jupiter itself might be helpful somehow, with its astrological and alchemical associations. According to one Wikipedia article:

Astrologically speaking, Jupiter is associated with the principles of growth, expansion, prosperity, and good fortune. Jupiter governs long distance and foreign travel, big business and wealth, higher education, religion, and the law. It is also associated with the urge for freedom and exploration, as well with gambling and merrymaking.

Emphasis added by me.

O_________O

Well… Iuppiter (Zeus) was the highest of the Ancient Roman (Greek) gods… and it’s the most massive of all the stars in the solar system, right? There must be some kind of advantage? Maybe? WILL SPOOKY EVEN SOMEHOW BE ABLE TO BREATHE THOUGH!!!

I think I saw an article somewhere that the Red Spot is actually shrinking now?

You know, people keep calling it a hammer when it actually looks closer to a mallet.

I think mallets used to be fairly popular in cartoons.

I think this is my favorite page from this chapter so far. The line work is fantastic and the color differences between each panel both help to tell the action and the story in such short space. These could all be considered iconic panels.

An indication of what Spooky enjoyed in his forgotten childhood, perhaps.

Test comment. Please ignore. (I’m just trying to troubleshoot why this one thread hasn’t been updating on Wordpress.)
